Drugs, weapons and stolen property seized after Prahran arrest

Officers from the Frontline Tactical Unit in the Southern Metro Region with the assistance of Prahran police have arrested a man allegedly in possession of a large amount of drugs, weapons and stolen property.

The arrest, which was as a result of Operation Nighthawk, took place when police intercepted the man’s car on Greville Street in Prahran on Friday 17 April.

A search of the vehicle resulted in police allegedly finding drugs which included GHB, methylamphetamine, ecstasy, ketamine and a number of prescription medications.

Weapons which included a machete, a sword, an extendable baton, several knives and a credit card knife were also found in the vehicle along with computer items, multiple car and master keys and a large amount of personal documents such as Medicare cards, banking documents, birth certificates and travel documents.

The 24-year-old Carrum Downs man has been charged with drug offences, possess prohibited weapons, negligently deal with proceeds of crime, handle stolen goods and going equipped to steal.

He has been bailed to appear at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 2 October.

Operation Nighthawk is a proactive operation targeting burglaries, armed robberies, drug and weapon offences within the Prahran, Malvern, South Melbourne and St Kilda areas.
