Drunk woman crashes car in front of police

A 60-year-old woman on a dessert run was allegedly nearly five times the legal alcohol limit in Noble Park last night.

Dandenong Highway Patrol members had pulled over the driver of an unregistered car on the Princes Highway about 7.30pm.

While they were speaking with the driver, a young woman pulled over and advised police that a female driver had crashed into her vehicle nearby and she was concerned the woman shouldn’t be driving.

While police were getting further details, a two-car collision occurred nearby.

The young woman told police it was the same car that had crashed into her a short time ago.

Police conducted a breath-test on the 60-year-old driver, who returned an alleged reading of .249.

The Noble Park woman told police she was driving to McDonalds to pick up a sundae for her grandson.

Her licence was immediately suspended for 12 months, and she will be charged on summons with drink driving and traffic offences.

Her Holden Astra was also impounded for 30 days at a cost of $950.

The woman was taken to hospital for observation.
