Eight charged over alleged involvement in drug syndicate operating across Sydney – Strike Force Shiel

Drug and Firearms Squad detectives have charged eight people following an investigation into an alleged drug syndicate operating across Sydney under Strike Force Shiel.

Strike Force Shiel was established in May 2023 by State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad to investigate the alleged large-scale drug supply by a criminal syndicate operating across the Sydney Metropolitan area.

Following extensive inquiries, about 3pm yesterday (Wednesday 29 November 2023), strike force detectives – with assistance from Operational Support Group ODIN – executed a search warrant in North Bondi where they arrested a 49-year-old man.

The man was taken to Waverley Police Station where he was charged with nine offences including participating criminal group, take part supply prohibited drug >= large commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug >= large commercial quantity, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and recklessly deal proceeds of general crime $100000 or more.

He was refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court today (Thursday 30 December 2023).

Strike Force detectives – with assistance from multiple State Crime Command squads, the Public Order & Riot Squad, South West Metropolitan Operational Support Group, Dog Squad and Australian Border Force – then executed a number of additional search warrants in Zetland, Burwood, Wiley Park, Concord West, Belmore, Campsie and Beverley Hills.

During the various search warrants, officers located gold bullion, prohibited weapons, prohibited drugs including 12.5kg of heroin, 8kg of methylamphetamine, 10kg of cannabis, and approximately $360,000 in cash.

All items were seized to undergo further forensic examination.

Three men, aged 29, 32 and 46 were arrested at the Beverley Hills address and taken to Campsie and Burwood Police Stations where the youngest man was charged with supply prohibited drug >indictable &

The 46-year-old man was charged with breach of bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today.

At the Belmore search warrant, officers arrested a 33-year-old man who was taken to Campsie Police Station, where he was charged with participate in criminal group, supply prohibited drug >small &

At the Campsie search warrant, officers arrested a 63-year-old man who was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug >= large commercial quantity, and deal with property proceeds of crime => $100000. He was refused bail to appear in Burwood Local Court today.

A short time later, strike force detectives located and arrested a 38-year-old man in Rouse Hill. He was taken to The Hills Police Station where he was charged with five offences including deal with property proceeds of crime indictable &

Strike force then arrested a 31-year-old man in Neutral Bay who was taken to Chatswood Police Station and charged with supply cannabis >indictable &
