Eighteen arrested after drug operation, South Australia

Northern District police commenced an operation in July 2019 in response to the trafficking of heroin and methamphetamine in the northern suburbs.

On Thursday 5 and Friday 6 March Northern District detectives working together with members from Eastern and Western District CIB, STAR, Serious and Organised Crime, Licensing Enforcement Branch, Serious Firearms Branch and State Tactical Branch conducted numerous searches of residential addresses in the northern and north-western suburbs.

As a result the following people were arrested during the two day operation:

  • a 36-year-old woman from Parafield Gardens for two counts of trafficking heroin
  • a 34-year-old man from Parafield Gardens for one count of trafficking heroin
  • a 45-year-old man from Parafield Gardens for three counts of trafficking methamphetamine and two counts of trafficking heroin
  • a 38-year-old man from Paralowie for five counts of trafficking heroin and one count of trafficking amphetamine
  • a 36-year-old man from Paralowie for one count of trafficking heroin
  • a 40-year-old man from Salisbury Downs for six counts of trafficking heroin and ten counts of trafficking amphetamine
  • a 33-year-old woman from Parafield Gardens for four counts of trafficking heroin and two counts of trafficking amphetamine
  • a 50-year-old man from Pooraka for one count of trafficking heroin
  • a 40-year-old woman from Pooraka for one count of trafficking heroin
  • a 34-year-old man and 35-year-old woman from Pennington for possession of prescribed equipment (heroin press) and theft of stolen property
  • a 34-year-old man from Elizabeth Downs was reported for Cultivate Cannabis (6 plants)
  • a 34-year-old man from Salisbury East for three counts of heroin trafficking and one count of trafficking meth
  • a 37-year-old man from Parafield gardens for one count of trafficking meth and one count of heroin
  • a 38-year-old man from Ingle Farm for trafficking heroin
  • a 38-year-old man from Parafield Gardens who was arrested on outstanding warrant and reported for the possession of a dangerous article (credit card knife) and firearm ammunition
  • a 35-year-old man from Mawson Lakes was arrested for breaching his bail conditions
  • a 34-year-old man from Salisbury Plains arrested for one count of trafficking heroin

In addition to the arrests police seized 550 grams of heroin, 70 grams of methamphetamine, more than $38,000 cash, a heroin press, two stolen trailers, two stolen quad bikes, a taser and electronic exhibits.

All 18 people have been refused bail and will appear in Elizabeth, Port Adelaide and Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday 6 March.
