An eighth person has been charged following investigations into a stabbing at Pyrmont last week that left a man with significant injuries.
Just before 11pm on Friday (31 July 2020), police were called to the intersection of Pyrmont Bridge Road and Wattle Streets, after reports of an assault.
Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and found a 36-year-old man suffering serious facial injuries.
Investigators have been told the man was confronted and assaulted by a group of males, who weren’t known to him, before being repeatedly stabbed in the face and slashed with the knife.
The man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he remains in an induced coma receiving treatment to significant facial injuries, including the loss of his eyesight.
To date, seven teenagers have been charged and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, a 15-year-old boy was arrested at Surry Hills Police Station just after 8am today (Tuesday 4 August 2020).
He was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and affray.
The teen was refused bail and will appear in a children’s court tomorrow (Wednesday 5 August 2020).
Investigations into the assault are continuing.
