Electoral Commissioner reappointment confirmed

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Elise Archer has announced the reappointment of Andrew Hawkey as the Tasmanian Electoral Commissioner.

“Mr Hawkey has served in the role of Commissioner since 2016 and brings extensive electoral experience to the role,” the Attorney-General said.

“He has overseen the two previous State elections as well as numerous Legislative Council periodic elections and Local Government ordinary elections.

“Mr Hawkey has demonstrated a high level of capability during his tenure as Commissioner and prior to that as Deputy Commissioner, and I congratulate him on his reappointment and look forward to continuing to work with him and him and his office into the future.

Mr Hawkey has been reappointed for the statutory term of seven years.
