Emergency crews responding to fatal house fire in Mackay, QLD

Police are investigating a fatal house fire in Mackay, on Saturday August 19.

Emergency crews were called to Grant Street around 6.30pm to reports of a fire. By the time crews arrived, the house was engulfed in flames.

A subsequent search at the scene the following day led to the discovery of the body of 59-year-old Mark Gallagher, who was the sole occupant of the house.

Two dogs that resided at the property also died at the scene.

Police are calling for information from members of the public who witnessed the fire, or who may have seen or talked to Mark earlier in the day on Saturday, to call Policelink.
