  • Labor Shadow Minister for Primary Industries Shane Broad today paid tribute to Peter and Una Rockliff for their contribution to the Tasmanian economy and the community.

Dr Broad said news that the Rockliffs have sold their remaining share in Petuna Aquaculture marks the end of an era.

“Peter and Una are pioneers in the Tasmanian aquaculture industry.

“The Rockliffs made an enormous contribution to the Tasmanian community, particularly on the north west coast.

“Their vision and investment has helped to create hundreds of jobs and contributed to what has become one of the state’s most important industries.

“On behalf of Labor, I want to thank the Rockliffs for their passion and dedication to the aquaculture industry.”

Dr Broad welcomed confirmation from Sealord that it had plans to significantly invest in the business.

“Sealord has been a part owner of Petuna for a decade. They understand the business and the Tasmanian industry and we look forward to seeing what this new chapter holds.”
