Energy Council statement on Andrew Reeves

The Australian Energy Council is saddened to learn of the loss of Andrew Reeves, the former chair of the Australian Energy Regulator.

The Australian Energy Council’s Chief Executive, Sarah McNamara, said Andrew was highly regarded across the energy industry and had made a significant contribution to the sector in his four years as AER Chair and prior to that as a Board member. He led major regulatory reforms which included the establishment of the National Energy Retail Law and Rules and network regulations.

He also contributed to the oversight of Tasmania’s energy sector and was a Commissioner of the Utilities Commission of the Northern Territory in a broad career focused on transformation in the energy industry.

On behalf of the Australian Energy Council and its members I extend our sincere condolences to his family and former colleagues.
