Epworth Eastern IVF turns one

Hundreds of pregnancies have occurred in the first year of the Epworth Eastern day IVF unit.

The unit, a partnership between Epworth Eastern Ekera and Newlife IVF, opened on 28 October 2019.

Kerry May, Executive General Manager, Epworth Eastern is thrilled that the IVF unit has helped so many families.

“Over the past 12 months, we’ve seen the service deliver hundreds of pregnancies and a number of births – and we’re so proud to be part of the journey of providing this gift of life to our patients,” Ms May said.

“Our partnership with Newlife IVF has increased the number of health services we offer at Epworth Eastern as we redevelop and expand our hospital, to continue to support Melbourne’s growing south-east.”

Second-time parents Jade and Tyson Matuszak turned to Epworth Eastern and Newlife IVF after unsuccessfully trying to conceive for three years.

“Some of my friends had gone through IVF and they weren’t happy with the experience so I was quite nervous going into it, not knowing what to expect,” Ms Matuszak said.

“All of the Epworth nursing staff and Dr Nicole Hope were wonderful. They went above and beyond. Everything was explained thoroughly.”

Ms Matuszak spent much of her pregnancy in lockdown, home-schooling their five-year-old daughter Isla.

Eight weeks ago, Jade and Tyson welcomed Harper into the world.

“She is doing wonderfully well. She has definitely completed our family. The whole experience was great,” Ms Matuszak said.
