Evade police arrest 25 November

About 9.45pm last night, 24 November 2020, Regional Investigations Unit detectives attempted to stop the driver of a Holden Commodore travelling on Church Avenue near Sixth Avenue in Armadale.

It is alleged the driver failed to stop and accelerated away from the police vehicle that had activated its emergency lights and siren.

It is further alleged the Holden Commodore continued to drive through several streets in Armadale before entering onto the Tonkin Highway in Forrestdale on the incorrect side of the road. Police immediately aborted the pursuit.

A few minutes later, the Commodore still travelling on the incorrect side of the road collided with a white Holden Captiva station wagon that was travelling south on Tonkin Highway. The 40-year-old female driver received minor injuries and was conveyed by ambulance to Armadale Hospital.

The crash caused the driver of the Holden Commodore to lose control of the vehicle and the Commodore travelled approximately 150m before colliding with a green Hyundai hatchback at the intersection of Tonkin Highway and Champion Drive in Champion Lakes.

The driver of the Hyundai, a man in his 30s received serious injuries and was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the Commodore, a 24-year-old man was apprehended by officers a short distance from the crash site. He was conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital where it was ascertained he had serious injuries.

The 24-year-old man from Armadale is facing a bedside hearing in the near future on the charges of:-

• Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm;

• Drove, Caused or Permitted a Vehicle with a Forged, Replica or False Plate to be Driven on a Road;

• Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (circumstance of aggravation);

• No Authority to Drive;

• Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police;

• Use Unlicensed Vehicle on a Road;

• Stealing; and

• Accused Disobey Summons.
