Evade Police Arrest – Balcatta

Detectives from the Regional Investigations Unit have charged a man after a short foot pursuit, jive and foxtrot across a dance floor in Balcatta last night, Wednesday 28 October 2020.
About 8:50pm a black HSV GTS with a false number plate attached to it was observed leaving a car wash facility on Wanneroo Road, Balcatta. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle a short time later on Grindleford Drive, however it will be alleged the driver failed to stop and accelerated away.
The vehicle continued along Grindleford Drive before turning into the car park of the Macedonian Cultural Centre. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the centre, where a private event was being held.
Detectives chased the driver on foot into the centre, gliding crossing the dance floor with style and grace before smoothly transitioning to a gentle and composed arrest at a nearby table.
It was established the vehicle had been stolen during a burglary in Bentley on Friday 7 August 2020. After the vehicle was abandoned in the car park it caused damage to another vehicle that was parked at the centre.
A 27-year-old man from Stirling has been charged with:
– Steal Motor Vehicle
– No Authority to Drive
– Fail to Stop (to evade police)
– Fail to Stop (property damage)
– Drove, caused or permitted a vehicle with a forged, replica or false plate to be driven on a road
He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday 10 November 2020.
