Everyone, everywhere – healthy and well in Stonnington

This week, we released our Health and Wellbeing Snapshot, which presents the key achievements of Stonnington’s Health and Wellbeing Plan (2021-2025) (adopted October 2021), which guides health planning and inspires action on local health challenges.

The Plan recognises that good health is far broader than being free from disease. Good health is about physical, mental, and social wellbeing.

The Health and Wellbeing Snapshot provides a glimpse of the many activities and services delivered by the City of Stonnington and our health partners to prevent people from becoming unwell in the first place and support our community to lead healthy and happy lives.

From new parenting programs and recognising the contribution of volunteers in our community, to improving accessibility at sporting facilities and creating opportunities for older people to connect with the community — we are proud of what has been achieved to date and we look forward to continuing to work alongside our community to increase the health and wellbeing for everyone, everywhere in Stonnington.

This week also marks the celebration of World Health Day, which commemorates the anniversary of the World Health Organisation (WHO), established to promote health and keep the world safe and this year celebrates its 75th anniversary.

While WHO promotes health on a global scale, in Victoria, local government has a responsibility for protecting, improving and promoting health and wellbeing at a community level.
