Scores of
artists from across the Geelong region have their creative and inclusive works
displayed at an exhibition that celebrates International Day of People with
Disability.
Through My Eyes showcases the talents of established
and emerging artists living with disability.
More than 100
local artists are featured in the vibrant and collaborative free
exhibition, which was launched at Gordon Gallery on Tuesday night.
Works examine personal
stories and insights and reflect on a broad range of themes emanating from current
affairs and pop culture.
Through My Eyes
is a key event in the City’s celebrations for International Day of People with
Disability (IDPWD).
Other free activities
held across Greater Geelong included a film and tech festival, music, art
workshops, library readings and a business breakfast.
The City has
been supporting IDPWD since 1996.
The day aims to
raise more public awareness about the achievements and contributions of people
with a lived experience of disability.
Through My Eyes will be shown until 9 December.
All the
proceeds of sales from the exhibition will go directly to the artist or to the inclusive
art studio that supports them with their professional creative practice.

our region. The event
challenges stereotypes and celebrates the successes of people with a lived
experience of disability.It also
recognises the wonderful contributions of carers, family and friends and helps
bring people and communities together.

Council is
proud to support International Day of People with Disability, an important day
that showcases the talents and viewpoints of locals who have a lived experience
of disability. The local
artists involved should feel proud of their artistic achievements. The exhibition
will also raise public awareness about the contributions and aspirations of
