Expressions of interest are now open for the COP31 Pre-COP Stakeholder Program. The program will take place in Fiji from 5 to 8 October 2026.
The program will run alongside the official Pre-COP meeting. It will bring together stakeholders from Australia, the Pacific and beyond to share climate solutions, discuss regional challenges and build connections through plenaries, panels, roundtables, workshops, networking events and keynote sessions.
The Pre-COP is a key step on the road to COP31. It helps countries set priorities and prepare for negotiations ahead of the annual global climate summit.
In November 2026, Türkiye will host COP31 in Antalya. Australia and Türkiye are working in partnership to deliver the conference.
Ahead of COP31, Australia is working with Fiji, Tuvalu and other Pacific partners to host Pre-COP in Fiji and a Leaders’ program in Fiji and Tuvalu.
Hosting Pre-COP in the Pacific will help Pacific nations shape global climate discussions. It will provide a platform for Pacific leadership, priorities and climate solutions.
The Pre-COP Stakeholder Program will support these goals by bring together:
- community groups
- industry
- UN agencies
- Government agencies
- Academics and researchers
- First Nations organisations
- Youth organisations
Australia and Fiji encourage proposals for events and activities that align with the 4 priority areas of the COP31 Pacific Partnership:
- keeping 1.5°C within reach
- improving access to climate finance
- elevating the ocean-climate nexus
- amplifying Pacific voices and leadership.
Submit a separate form for each event proposal. We encourage organisations to work together on joint applications, as space in the program is limited. Please nominate one contact person for each proposal.
