Expressions of Interest sought for Oxfam Australia Board

Expressions of interest have been invited for rewarding opportunities to join the Oxfam Australia Board and play a key role in tackling the inequalities that are keeping people in poverty.

Oxfam Australia Chief Executive Lyn Morgain said she was excited to call for applications for Board positions from passionate, community-connected and skilled individuals to help lead the organisation into the future.

“The Oxfam Australia Board will ensure a strong alignment between the organisation’s governance and its recently refreshed strategic directions and priorities,” Ms Morgain said.

“The process of appointing Board members is an exciting new chapter for Oxfam Australia that will both bring fresh and diverse governance and ensure there is a continuity of experience and knowledge.”

Ms Morgain said in selecting Board members, the organisation was committed to promoting inclusion across race, age, disability and sexual orientation and gender identity.

“This approach aligns strongly with our values and will help ensure our Board reflects our work, driving us towards our vision of a just and sustainable world without the inequalities that keep people in poverty,” Ms Morgain said.

“We want the voice of those whose experience is the work we do – in particular First Nations Australians and others of our region – to be central to our work and this must be reflected in our leadership across the organisation.”

Oxfam Australia Board Chair Judith Slocombe said the Board provided critical governance oversight, strategic foresight, deep community engagement and a breadth of knowledge.

“The Board ensures a relevant, respected and legitimate organisation that drives Oxfam Australia to tackle the inequalities that keep people in poverty,” Dr Slocombe said.

“This is a fulfilling and challenging opportunity to join a global movement working towards a just and sustainable world.”

Expressions of interest close on Friday 25 June and appointments will commence at the August Annual General Meeting of the Board.
