  • Metropolitan liquor stores and hotel bottle shops can open from 8am to 10pm
  • Regional liquor stores can open from 10am to 10pm
  • Business owners will not need to apply for an extended trading permit or pay any fees
  • Racing and Gaming and Small Business Minister Reece Whitby has welcomed a decision by the Director of Liquor Licensing to allow extended Sunday trading for Western Australian liquor stores over the festive season.

The move means business owners will not have to apply for an extended trading permit or pay any fees.

Metropolitan liquor stores will be able to open two hours earlier at 8am on three Sundays over the Christmas and New Year period on December 12 and 19, and 26.

Regional bottle shops cannot currently trade on Sundays but under the arrangement will be able to open from 10am to 10pm on those same dates.

As stated by Racing and Gaming and Small Business Minister Reece Whitby:

“The McGowan Government is pleased to support this initiative by the Director of Liquor Licensing.

“Christmas and New Year can be an extremely busy time and this move enables small businesses to offer consumers more hours and more flexibility when purchasing their liquor this festive season.

“The decision not only reduces administrative burden and costs to licensees, it also reflects the McGowan Government’s commitment to balancing the responsible consumption of alcohol with the community’s desire to enjoy the festive season with family and friends.”
