Eyes of Australia on Darwin as Win a Top End Wedding competition winners say ‘I do’

Thousands of viewers across Australiahad a front-row seat at the television wedding of the year this morning, whenNine Networks Today Win a Top EndWedding competition winners Lauren and Steve said I do at picturesque PeeWees at the Point.

The competition, a partnership betweenthe NT Government and the Nine Network, is leveraging the Top End Wedding movie, which was released in cinemas last Thursday.

The wedding followed months of nationalcoverage for the NT as the couple visited destinations across the Top End.Storylines aired to hundreds of thousands of Australians tuning into Today included the loved-up duo choosingtheir Territory honeymoon at Bullo River Station, learning the location oftheir wedding ceremony, and catching up with family at Nitmiluk National Park showcasing jaw-dropping views and incredible Territory experiences to thenation.

Several Territory businesses received exposure through the Win a Top End Wedding competition coverage, including wedding planners, CreativeTwo, and fashionable Darwin venues Pee Wees at the Point and Wharf One thelocations for the wedding ceremony and reception. Mindil Beach Casino &Resort, Crocosaurus Cove and Outback Floatplane Adventures featured after hosting the hen and buckcelebrations, and even favourite Territory foods got a look in, such as NT prawns, green pawpaw salad and Spanish mackerel.

Dubbedas the television wedding of the year, Lauren and Steves Top End Wedding wasbroadcast live on Today this morning,illustrating to viewers that Darwin is a modern, diverse city, surrounded bystunning landscapes and experiences.

The Top End Wedding movie and Tourism NTs partnership with the NineNetwork for Win a Top End Wedding have both delivered great national exposurefor the Territory and all it has to offer visitors.

The movie alone used the services of180 local suppliers and vendors, injecting $1.526 million into our economy andcreating 190 jobs.

The competition has promoted manylocal businesses and tourist attractions to thousands of people acrossAustralia, including those planning a destination wedding.

Lauren and Steve were selected from13,000 entrants vying for the $75,000 prize, and viewers have been eagerlyfollowing their wedding journey, discovering more about the Territory and thepossibilities available here along the way.
