Fatal traffic crash at Merritts Creek, QLD

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash at Merritts Creek, north of Toowoomba yesterday, September 8.

Investigations indicate that around 11.20am, a Hyundai Tucson was travelling southbound on the New England Highway before it crashed with a Toyota Kluger travelling northbound.

The driver and single occupant of the Tucson, a 32-year-old Hampton woman, was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, a 36-year-old Oakey woman, was airlifted in a serious condition to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A 16-year-old girl, a passenger in the Toyota, was airlifted in a serious condition to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

A 14-year-old boy, another passenger in the Toyota, was transported in a serious condition to Toowoomba Hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the incident and are appealing to anyone who might have witnessed the crash or may have relevant dashcam vision to come forward.
