The City of Greater Bendigo is planning for the future of the Maiden Gully Recreation Reserve in Beckhams Road and is seeking feedback on a draft Site and Infrastructure Plan to guide the future development of this important recreation area to ensure it is accessible and inclusive for all residents to access and enjoy.
The draft site plan features new bike and walking paths, identification of sites for potential skate park, BMX track, outdoor fitness or parkour activities, potential relocation of cricket nets, potential site for new playspace, spectator seating, service vehicle access with turning bay, parking areas and areas for more organised and non-organised activities.
City of Greater Bendigo Active and Healthy Communities Amy Johnston said the City wants to know what residents like about the draft plan, what’s missing, ways to improve the site to make it more accessible, safe and welcoming, any activities they would like to see at the reserve in the future and any other comments they may have.
“The infrastructure at the Maiden Gully Recreation Reserve is old and ageing and no longer meets the diverse needs of the growing Maiden Gully community,” Ms Johnston said.
“Maiden Gully’s population is growing and it’s important to ensure that local facilities meet the needs of all members of the community into the future.
“The reserve needs to be redesigned to address the changing way people participate in physical activities and use different types of spaces to gather, meet and play.”
