The State Government’s popular Dine & Discover NSW program has gone off the charts in its final week, with about $66 million spent by customers over the past seven days.
Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello said 1.8 million vouchers were redeemed in the past week, as people around the state hit clubs, pubs, restaurants, cafes and tourist attractions to take full advantage of the program, which concludes today.
“Almost one billion dollars has been invested into businesses across the State, with customers spending an average of $42 for every voucher used, proving them an effective stimulus,” Mr Dominello said.
“After launching in March 2021, the program was extended for 12 months last June, when the Delta outbreak sent the state into lockdown and the vouchers became a lifeline for both families and businesses as they recovered from the pandemic.
“The record number of redemptions in the final week of the program shows that New South Wales has bounced back and the buzz around one of the world’s great tourist destinations has returned.
“This is a final reminder for people to spend their vouchers by the end of today. There are plenty of businesses who would love your support and can save you money.”
Mr Dominello said the adoption rate for the program was beyond all expectations with 87 per cent of eligible people applying for the vouchers and on average, customers redeeming four of their available six.
“The program has been incredibly well supported with 5.5 million successful applications rating it at almost 98 per cent customer satisfaction and businesses proving just as happy with 97 per cent of more than 16,700 registered giving it the thumbs up,” Mr Dominello said.
“For the businesses who have registered as Discover NSW venues, the stimulus will continue with Parents NSW Vouchers remaining active until 9 October.
“The program was an Australian first and the technology behind the voucher system has created a new way for Government to deliver direct, targeted budget relief when and wherever it may be required.
“The Government will utilise the voucher technology with the Premier’s Back-to-School vouchers announced in the recent budget.”
The Dine & Discover NSW programs ends at midnight today, with any unredeemed vouchers moved to the expired tab of the Vouchers section in the Service NSW app.
