Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) is excited to announce the Victorian Government has named the 28 finalists for the Premier’s Sustainability Awards 2020.

EPA is the proud sponsor of this year’s Environmental Protection category which celebrates leadership and excellence in the protection and prevention of harm to the environment.

Finalists in the Environmental Protection category are:

• Yarra Riverkeeper Association and Cleanwater Group – Litter and Polystyrene Pollution in the Yarra. A partnership working together to remove and mitigate the effects of litter and polystyrene pollution in the Yarra River.

EPA CEO, Dr Cathy Wilkinson said the innovations exhibited in the Environmental Protection category aligned with their own mission and congratulated the category finalists and all entrants on their efforts.

“Congratulations and well done to our finalists for their innovation and commitment to preventing and reducing the impacts of pollution and waste. It’s inspiring to see organisations being part of the solution to protecting our environment.

In mid-2021, Victoria will welcome the biggest change in 50 years to our environment protection laws. This change will see more responsibility placed on our businesses, industry and community, to proactively prevent harm to our environment and human health.”
