Fine free no limit libraries

Library reading book

Hobsons Bay Libraries are opening for extended hours during weekdays and weekends, and are offering unlimited loans and no fees for overdue items.

Mayor of Hobsons Bay Cr Peter Hemphill said the Hobsons Bay community had stood by its libraries during the past two years and this was a way of saying thank you and reminding the community these spaces are for them.

“With new programming and events centred around education, the environment, technology, and creative arts, there will be something for all residents to enjoy,” said Cr Hemphill.

“If you haven’t visited your local library for a while, you don’t need to worry about overdue items or loan limits. You can borrow as many items as you want, stay longer and get reacquainted with these wonderful spaces.”

Hobsons Bay has five libraries, and members have access to more than 130,000 books, films, magazines and audiobooks.

Visitors can use library wi-fi, print, copy and scan, book meeting spaces such as the Williamstown pod, and rent out creative tech kits to learn about robotics and coding.

Programs and events are back in person with more new events added each month.

“Library spaces are important for community growth and learning,” said Cr Hemphill.

“With the launch earlier this year of the Creative Technology Hub, and with the recent launch of our Council+ service, they are part of our commitment to providing the best value for ratepayers.”

Council+ makes it easier and more convenient for the community to access over a hundred Council services at Hobsons Bay Libraries branches.

Council staff at libraries will be able to assist visitors with queries ranging from rates and parking to waste and planning. Our friendly team will be able to find the answer to your question or put you in touch with the right person.
