Firearm, knives, cash and drugs seized; man charged, NSW

A man will face court today after being charged by Raptor Squad detectives with firearm, illegal weapon and drug offences in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.

As part of proactive targeting of members and associates of criminal networks across Sydney, Strike Force Hawk officers are conducting inquiries into activities and crimes suspected to be related to the preparation for public acts of violence.

About 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday 10 November 2021), officers from Raptor Squad attended a house on Kelsey Street, Middleton Grange, and served a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) and a Weapons Prohibition Order (WPO) on a 33-year-old man.

During a subsequent search of the premises and a vehicle parked at the location, officers located a firearm, ammunition, two knives, almost $13,000 cash and cocaine.

The man was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with three counts possess or use a weapon without permit, possess unauthorised pistol, possess ammunition without holding licence or permit or authority, possess prohibited drug, and goods suspected stolen in/on premises.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 11 November 2021).

Inquiries under Strike Force Hawk are continuing.
