Firearm produced; man charged, NSW

A man will appear in court today charged after allegedly producing a firearm at a Brighton Le Sands restaurant when requested to pay for meal.

About 6.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 11 January 2022), a man attended a restaurant on Bay Street, and when asked to pay for his meal, allegedly produced a firearm and placed it on the counter.

The man allegedly brandished the firearm in front of customers and staff while moving around the restaurant.

Police were notified and officers from St George Police Area Command attended, arresting the 42-year-old man.

During a search of the man, police located a replica Colt firearm and magazine.

The man was taken to Hurstville Police Station where he was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, possess unregistered firearm-pistol, two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (personal), not keep firearm safely-pistol, not prevent theft/loss of firearm-pistol, and not wear face covering indoor area-non-residential premises.

He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Tuesday 11 January 2021).
