Firearm seized after Port Melbourne collision

Police have arrested two people after a collision in Port Melbourne led to the discovery of a loaded firearm.

Emergency services were called to reports of the the collision on Todd Road, outbound, about 100m from the Salmon Street Bridge.

Investigators have been told a blue Hyundai sedan was stationary in-between emergency lane and road, blocking the left lane. A collision has occurred with a merging grey Holden Station Wagon.

The occupants of the Hyundai sedan fled from the scene.

A knife and firearm were located inside the Hyundai and police arrested a 27-year-old Mernda man and 25-year-old Roxburgh Park woman at a nearby bus stop.

They are currently assisting investigators with their enquiries.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the collision.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
