Firearms and drugs located in St Kilda warrant

Prahran Divisional Response Unit members have located a number of firearms and drugs during a warrant on Thursday morning.

Police executed the warrant on Carlisle Street about 8am following an ongoing investigation.

During the search they located two rifles and a hand-held crossbow.

Officers also located a quantity of methylamphetamines, cannabis and prescription medication.

A 45-year-old St Kilda man has been charged with 15 offences, including possessing a firearm as a prohibited person, possessing a silencer, possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing a drug of dependence, committing an indictable offence whilst on bail and persistently contravening a court order.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 25 March.

“Investigators from the Prahran Divisional Response Unit continue to remain vigilant in identifying potential risks to the community including the illegal possession of firearms and weapons such as those taken off our streets today”. “We will seek out those carrying and possessing prohibited weapons of any kind in an effort to keep the community safe.” “Weapons such as these in the wrong hands are a concern and have no proper use amongst our community. We will continue to seek, identify, locate & prosecute those found in possession”.
