Design concepts responding to community feedback on the master plan of the new $50 million Brighton High School have been released, with the images unveiling a contemporary physical environment to complement the learning needs of young Tasmanians.
Developed by local firm Jaws Architects, the release of the renders is the next step in the detailed design phase, which follows extensive community consultation before and after the release of the master plan last year.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is delivering on our 2018 election commitment to build the new Brighton High School, with construction expected to begin in 2023 and students to walk through the doors in 2025.
The state-of-the-art learning facilities will include a gym and performing arts space, commercial-style kitchen, outdoor learning areas, and extensive off-street parking.
Brighton High School will cater for up to 600 students across years 7 to 12.
Funding for the new high school is part of our Government’s record education infrastructure capital expenditure, with the total capital investment in the 2021–22 Budget and Forward Estimates increased to $271.8 million over four years.
This record investment is delivering 38 separate capital projects and programs, and there is plenty of work already underway in the South at projects like the $25.75 million redevelopment of Sorell School, the $20 million redevelopment of Cosgrove High School, the $8.2 million upgrade of Southern Support School, the $4.3 million upgrade of Jordan River Learning Federation School Farm and the $1.45 million upgrade of Springfield Gardens Primary School.
