Fraud Unit detectives have charged a man and executed four search warrants as part of an investigation into allegedly fraudulent finance and loan applications under Strike Force Onsite.
Strike Force Onsite was established by State Crime Command’s Financial Crimes Squad Fraud Unit in July 2023 to investigate a large-scale fraud syndicate involved in allegedly making fraudulent loan and finance applications to car dealerships and other finance companies.
It’s alleged between September 2022 to July 2023, the syndicate applied for fraudulent finance applications to at least three companies to the value of $2,147,535.00.
Following extensive inquiries, about 6.15am yesterday (Tuesday 24 October 2023), strike force detectives – with assistance from Raptor Squad and the Public Order & Riot Squad – executed four search warrants in Green Valley, Liverpool, Cecil Hills, and Blacktown.
At the Rozelle address, police arrested a 59-year-old man.
He was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with four counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 29 November 2023.
During searches at the properties, police located approximately $30,000 cash, a Mercedes Benz E300 Cabriolet, documentation, electronics.
All items were seized to undergo further forensic examination.
