Free desexing for pets

Concession cardholders in Knox have until 30 June, to apply for free desexing for their cats and dogs.

We were awarded a $25,000 grant from the Victorian Government to deliver the Pet Desexing Program in our community.

This program will help more residents gain access to essential services for their cats and dogs. Up to 150 cats and dogs will be desexed through this initiative.

Providing support for pet desexing will help address the concern of unwanted litters in our community.

Desexing pets also supports their health and wellbeing by reducing behavioural problems such as aggression, and lowers the chances of certain diseases and illnesses such as mammary cancer.

In 2020/21, we impounded 296 cats and kittens, and 326 dogs and puppies. Only 21% of cats and 84% of dogs were reclaimed by their owners.

Apply for this free desexing service at Animal Aid by 30 June 2022.
