With hospitality businesses crying out for qualified staff, Corangamite Shire Council is offering two Responsible Service of Alcohol courses.

Youth Engagement Coordinator Taylor Bonin said the qualification will give young people work skills and support hospitality businesses and community groups that serve alcohol.

“Corangamite Youth Services are providing fully subsidised training opportunities as part of its Sync-up career upskilling program for Corangamite Youth,” Mr Bonin said.

“We are running two sessions which can each take up to 15 people aged 18 – 25.

“This is a great opportunity for young people to get a practical skill that is in high demand.

“Participants will be issued an approved certificate which is often required by workplaces or volunteer organisations.”

Mr Bonin said the course was an opportunity that could open doors.

“It could be a stepping stone to a career in hospitality but could also be really useful for helping out at your local sporting club or other community organisation.

“We have run some similar sessions in the past and they filled up very quickly so register now at www.corangamite.vic.gov.au/SYNC-UP

The training is funded by a grant from the State Government’s Engage! program which supports young people to engage in community life and access education, training and career opportunities.
