Some of Perth’s most popular regional parks have been given a healthy boost, thanks to a $120,000 injection of funds for a raft of projects.
The funding package for the eight parks is in addition to $200,000 these same parks received last year for numerous projects that were recently completed.
The two-stage funding program by the McGowan Government has provided scope for the eight Regional Park Community Advisory Committees to make substantial improvements to the parks through various works including rehabilitation, and pest and weed management.
Funding was also used to enhance the visitor experience through such measures as improved signage.
The new investment of $120,000 will further support these projects and the valuable work of volunteers and community groups.
The funding package has been invested in the following regional parks:
- Beeliar Regional Park (City of Melville, Cockburn and Kwinana)
- Jandakot Regional Park (City of Canning, Cockburn, Kwinana, Armadale and Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale)
- Rockingham Lakes Regional Park (City of Rockingham)
- Woodman Point Regional Park (City of Cockburn)
- Canning River Regional Park (City of Canning)
- Parks of the Darling Range, including: Wungong Regional Park (City of Armadale and Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale), Mundy Regional Park (Shire of Kalamunda) and John Forrest National Park (Shire of Mundaring)
- Herdsman Lake Regional Park (City of Stirling)
- Yellagonga Regional Park (City of Joondalup and City of Wanneroo)
Management of regional parks is co-ordinated between different management agencies, including the Parks and Wildlife Service of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, local government authorities and private landowners.
As stated by Environment Minister Stephen Dawson:

“The community advisory committees played a key role in selecting and managing the on-ground projects that were funded, ensuring the best outcome for our regional parks.
