NSW Government

Developing NSW’s next generation of sports stars through world-class high-performance training facilities is the focus of a $150 million NSW Government funding program.

Applications are now open for the Centre of Excellence fund, with grants from $5 million to $15 million available to sporting, education and government organisations to enhance their facilities.

Minister for Sport Natalie Ward said the funding is one of the NSW Government’s key sporting initiatives and aims to develop the talent of the state’s future sports stars.

“These high-performance training venues will also have a strong community feel, with multi-purpose facilities allowing community programs to be expanded for the enjoyment of all,” Mrs Ward said.

“The Centres of Excellence will make our sporting codes the envy of sporting administrations around the world.”

A key requirement for funding is the inclusion of dedicated female programs and facilities to improve pathways for women and girls, in line with the NSW Government’s women in sport strategy Her Sport Her Way. Applicants are also required to provide a co-contribution and demonstrate improved community outcomes for people using their facilities.

Applications for Round One close 11 February 2022.
