Funding for multicultural community in Goulburn electorate

Yass Valley Council

Member for Goulburn, Wendy Tuckerman MP, today announced organisations providing support to multicultural communities can now apply for funding to deliver projects and events.

Mrs Tuckerman encouraged eligible organisations to apply for the Multicultural NSW Community Support Grants Program.

“We have countless outstanding organisations and volunteers in our community working around the clock to bring us together and keep us connected and supported,” Ms/Mr Tuckerman said.

“I’m delighted our community can start resuming gatherings in a COVID-Safe manner.”

“Whether it’s organising regular English or computer classes for multicultural seniors, an art or sporting project for young people, or a flagship multicultural festival, this grant program provides a helping hand to organisations devoted to helping others.”

Minister for Multiculturalism Geoff Lee said grants of up to $10,000 for events and up to $40,000 for projects were available.

“These grants will break barriers, combat social isolation and ensure every member of our society has access to the same opportunities no matter where they are from or what language they speak,” Mr Lee said.

Funded projects could include migrant support groups, community art and sports programs, English and job readiness training and support, and programs supporting the participation of women and young people from migrant backgrounds.

Funded events could include interfaith and multicultural events that bring our community together in a COVID-Safe manner.

Grant applications are now open and close 5pm Thursday 20 May 2021.
