The Territory Labor Government is growing events in the Territory to provide exciting experiences for locals and to attract more visitors.
To help organisers deliver amazing events, the Government’s Events Funding Program (EFP), delivered through Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC), provides funding for community events, mass participation events, event development, major events and strategic funding.
Organisers can apply for up to $100,000 for event development, $50,000 for mass participation events staged between October and March, $30,000 for mass participation events between April and September, and community events, and $15,000 for strategic funding.
Round two of the 2022-23 EFP will open on February 6, and, to provide certainty, organisers can apply for multi-year support in any of the categories.
The funding program helps grow and develop this important sector by increasing the quality and frequency of festivals and events, attracting interstate visitors, and upskilling the local industry and its workforce.
Independent research showed 22 events supported by NTMEC in 2021-22 delivered a gross expenditure stimulus of $39.8 million and more than 110,000 visitor nights.
Round one of the EFP saw events like the Big Name, No Blankets NT Community Tour, Archie100 Public Program, Darwin Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Rhythm of the 90s’ Concert, Chariots of Thunder Sprintcar Series, Katherine Junk Festival and Alice Springs Beanie Festival receive funding.
