A New South Wales man will appear in court today after forensic evidence linked him to cash and drugs seized by police earlier this year.
Yesterday, Tuesday 3 November, detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch arrested the 36-year-old man as part of an investigation into a criminal syndicate involved in interstate drug trafficking.
It will be alleged the syndicate was trafficking controlled drugs between New South Wales and South Australia.
Forensic evidence obtained by police allegedly links the arrested man to 39 kilograms of cannabis and $228,000 in cash seized from a truck at Truro on 4 September, and the seizure of $142,000 on 27 May.
The man was arrested in Port Adelaide and charged with participating in a criminal organisation. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today, 4 November.
Detective Chief Inspector Denise Gray said, “Serious and Organised Crime Branch continue to investigate interstate drug trafficking syndicates linked to organised crime groups and this arrest should serve as a warning to all those who play a role in this criminal behaviour.”
