Further charges over murder of teenage boy at Blacktown 30 March, NSW

Police have laid additional charges of murder following the death of a teenage boy in Sydney’s west last year.

About 10pm on Wednesday 1 September 2021, emergency services were called to the vicinity of William Street, Blacktown, following reports of a brawl.

Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command attended and contained the brawl with the assistance of Traffic and Highway Patrol, Dog Unit, PolAir and surrounding Police Area Commands.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated seven people at the scene for stab wounds.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, including police who performed CPR, a 17-year-old boy died at the scene.

Three teenage boys – two aged 13 and one aged 15 – were taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, two in critical condition and one in a serious condition.

Two 17-year-old boys, and a 20-year-old man, were taken to Blacktown Hospital for treatment.

All six have since been released from hospital.

Police established a crime scene and located several items at the scene, including a ‘Zombie’ knife, machete, kitchen knives and golf clubs. All items were seized for forensic examination.

Detectives attached to Blacktown Police Area Command established Strike Force Delrine to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

So far during the investigation, four people – three 17-year-old boys and a 20-year-old man – remain before the courts in relation to the incident.

Following further investigations, a 22-year-old man was arrested at Blacktown Police Station about 7.30am today (Wednesday 30 March 2022).

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with 12 offences including:

  • murder (x1)
  • cause wounding/GBH to person with into to murder (x2)
  • assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group (x3)
  • affray (x1)
  • not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 – COVID-19 (x1)
  • owner not disclose identity of driver/passenger (x1)
  • drive motor vehicle while licence suspended – 2nd offence (x1)
  • use unregistered registrable class A motor vehicle on road (x1)
  • use uninsured motor vehicle (x1)

The Harrington Park man was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 31 March 2022).

Following today’s charges, five people remain before the courts in relation to this incident.
