Further support for Veteran wellbeing services in Tasmania

Guy Barnett,Minister for Veterans’ Affairs

The Tasmanian Government welcomes today’s announcement by the Australian Government of a further $2.5 million, bringing the total to $7.5 million committed overall, to support veteran wellbeing services in Tasmania.

The Tasmanian Government has worked collaboratively with the Australian Government through the co-funding of a feasibility study to help shape the provision of wellbeing services to Tasmanian veterans and their families across the State, into the future.

Today’s announcement, along with the release of the report, highlights the need for the delivery of services that meet local needs to support our veterans and their families.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is also delivering on its 2021 election commitment of $1.4 million to support veterans, including for wellbeing measures of $100,000 for a training centre and additional facilities at the Dago Point Veterans Retreat, and $200,000 to make health and wellbeing vouchers available to veterans for gym or sporting club memberships.

We look forward to continuing to work with the Australian Government as it delivers this funding announced today, at an important time for the health and wellbeing of our returned service personnel.
