GBH charge at Bundaberg

A 20-year-old man has been transported to Brisbane with a life-threatening head injury following an alleged assaulted in Bundaberg last night with detectives charging a man with grievous bodily harm.

It will be alleged that shortly after 8pm a man entered a unit in Burnett Street, Bundaberg South armed with a metal pole.

Upon coming across a 19-year-old man, one of the occupants of the unit, he threw the metal pole at him, striking him in the rib area.

The 19-year-old fled with the man then picking up the metal pole and travelling through the unit before coming across a 20-year-old man who police allege was then struck in the head with the pole rendering him unconscious.

The man left the residence and returned to a neighbouring unit, sitting outside. He was arrested soon after by police without incident.

A 29-year-old Bundaberg South man has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court this morning charged with grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning bodily harm.
