Geelong Sustainability appoints executive officer to social enterprise

Geelong Sustainability has appointed Ms Trina Butko as the executive officer (EO) for its social enterprise GreenLight as it enters the next phase of its development.

Ms Butko brings extensive business consulting, project management and community development expertise to the role.

A business management expert whose career has included posts in the UK and Australia, she said “I’m looking forward to exploring new business opportunities that align with Geelong Sustainability’s strategy and key objective to hasten the region’s transition to a low carbon circular economy.”

She replaces GreenLight’s inaugural EO, David Spear, who helped get the enterprise off the ground in late 2019.

“Despite the challenges of COVID, GreenLight is now in a great position to build on and extend its commercially viable business model,” Mr Spear said.

Geelong Sustainability president Vicki Perrett said, “Geelong Sustainability is indebted to David, who has established GreenLight as the peak provider of business-to-business and business-to-government energy services. Our start-up social enterprise has benefitted greatly from his broad regional networks and organisational development expertise.”

GreenLight creates revenue streams to support the environmental and charitable work of Geelong Sustainability which is a registered environmental organisation and charity.
