Greater Geelong will pay tribute to the life of Dame Olivia Newton-John AC DBE this Sunday 26 February by lighting up City Hall in pink from 8.30pm.
The Australian-British singer, actor and activist, who passed away on 8 August last year, is being farewelled at a free, ticketed State Memorial Service at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on Sunday from 4pm.
The City has engaged local Projection Artist Matt Bonner to turn City Hall’s façade on Gheringhap Street bright pink, displaying Dame Newton-John’s name and dates of birth and death to commemorate and acknowledge her life achievements.
The colour pink is used to raise awareness of breast and gynaecological cancers.
Our catenary lights at the intersection of Malop and Moorabool Streets, Little Malop Central festoons, Central Geelong and Waterfront smart pole beacon lights and Waterfront palm tree lights will also turn pink.

The Greater Geelong community has been touched by Olivia’s talent and warmth through her musical and acting pursuits.
Her compassion and drive to help those with cancer through both the Olivia Newton-John Foundation and Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre deeply resonated with our residents.
Olivia was an icon and inspiration, and we are proud to call her Australian.

Over her six-decade career, Olivia gained fans of all ages for her bubbly and caring persona and her desire to help.
She changed lives and has left a long legacy for the arts, cancer research and wellbeing, the environment and animal rights.

Dame Newton-John’s family has requested that memorial tributes be made in the form of donations to the Wellness Programs at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre.
