President of the NSW Young Lawyers, Jennifer Windsor, today urged law students and newly admitted practitioners from the northern beaches to attend the 2019 Sydney Law Careers Fair, which is shaping up to be one of the largest in recent years.
The Law Society of NSW Sydney Law Careers Fair will be held on 29 March 2019 at the International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour, Sydney from 11am – 3pm. It is completely free to attend.
Ms Windsor said more than 40 exhibitors from Sydney Law Careers Fair from Australia’s leading firms, government departments and educational institutions will be on hand to answer student questions about clerkships, graduate roles and offer career guidance.
“I remember being overwhelmed as a final year law student with all the options, pathways and employment opportunities, and not really knowing what was right for me and how to take the first step” she said.
“If you are you starting to think about applying for clerkships or graduate programs, want some advice and guidance as you transition from study to the first few years of your career in law, or are looking for the inside scoop on clerkship and graduate programs, then I suggest you come along to the Sydney Law Careers Fair and get all the tips and guidance you need to ensure you are on the right path to your future career.”
“There’ll also be a series of complimentary presentations running throughout the day to assist with the transition from study into legal practice and covering critical career skills, including how to stand out in an interview and what to include in your CV.
“And there will be the opportunity to hear first-hand experiences from lawyers about their own careers as well as information on how to survive and thrive in the law and how to become a barrister.”
“There’ll also be an area where students can speak one on one to experienced recruiters about interview techniques and tips.”
