Giddy-up! Broadcast trifecta for WA’s biggest horse racing festival

  • McGowan Government sponsors Perth Racing’s 2021 TABtouch Masters
  • WA’s biggest annual racing festival with total prize pool of more than $5 million
  • Channel 10 Perth has been secured to broadcast all three events for the first time
  • WA’s thoroughbred industry employs more than 14,000 people, attracts more than 411,000 visitors at race meets across Western Australia, with more than 130,000 visitors attending Ascot Racecourse and Belmont Park Racecourse last year
  • Three weeks of horseplay at Western Australia’s biggest annual racing festival, the TABtouch Masters, is set to go ahead this summer injecting millions of dollars into the WA economy.

Supported by the WA Government through Tourism WA, the TABtouch Masters forms part of the Perth Racing Ascot Racing Carnival. It is the world’s only single-track thoroughbred racing festival featuring a Group One race worth at least $1 million dollars on three consecutive Saturdays.

The events will be held between November 20 to December 4 2021 at Ascot Racecourse, including the Heineken 3-Railway Stakes, Crown Perth-Winterbottom Stakes, and the Drummond Golf-Kingston Town Classic.

For the first time, all three events will be broadcast on free-to-air television with Channel 10 Perth secured as a media partner thanks to funding from Racing and Wagering Western Australia.

More than 22,000 spectators are expected to turn out across the three-week festival, beginning November 20.

Visitors travelling to Perth from the regions can Play and Stay in Perth for the TABtouch Masters with packages starting from $210 per person, which includes raceday entry and two nights’ accommodation plus options to upgrade stays and add-on local tours and experiences.

“This event is an opportunity to showcase the spirit and character of racing and highlight the importance of our racing industry to this State both economically and socially.

“It’s fantastic to see such a competitive sport with 48 licensed jockeys including 28 men and 20 women and an additional 17 apprentices.”

As stated by Tourism Minister David Templeman:

“The TABtouch Masters is a highlight of the Perth Racing season and one of a diverse mix of events on offer over the warmer months in Perth.

“Together, these events attract tens of thousands of people to the area along with regional visitors heading to Perth, which is positive news for local business and staycations in Perth.

“Broadcasting this event will help to promote Perth and increase destination awareness among regional and out-of-State viewers.”
