Four people have been charged and two vehicles seized after police targeted a Gold Coast hoon meet across the weekend.
As part of Operation Tango Vinyl which commenced in March last year, police disrupted a large scale gathering on Saturday night by also issuing 21 traffic infringement notices.
Acting Chief Superintendent Rhys Wildman was unapologetic and said police would continue to disrupt illegal hoon related activity.
“We frequently see young people involved in this dangerous behaviour, whether as drivers or bystanders,” he said.
“This behaviour is so dangerous it could have a lasting impact on their life or career, particularly if they’re injured or put before the courts.
“A simple act gone wrong could also impact the lives of their mates. Their behaviour is simply selfish,” Chief Superintendent Wildman said.
The group were initially observed at Yatala then at various around Logan and South Brisbane as they travelled throughout the night.
Among the group was a 19-year-old Mount Warren Park man who was observed by police allegedly driving dangerously in a white ute.
As police attempted to intercept him, he allegedly evaded police by speeding off before crashing into a median strip some time later. The man allegedly ran from the car and was arrested a short distance away after being tracked by Polair.
He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 28 charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and evasion. His car was also impounded for 90 days.

Acting Chief Superintendent Wildman said those who weren’t intercepted by police can still expect action to be taken against them.
“Officers will spend coming days going through footage obtained by Polair and our covert surveillance teams,” he said.
“Those who were involved in illegal activity can expect an officer to arrive at their house or their workplace at anytime.
