- $78,000 in funding to support community organisations and local governments to run activities during Youth Week WA 2024
- This year’s theme for Youth Week is ‘Head, Body, Heart’
- Youth Week WA will be launched in Albany and will run from 5-12 April
Community organisations and local governments across Western Australia have been awarded State Government grants to host events during Youth Week WA 2024.
Thirty-six successful applicants will receive up to $3,000 each for activities that celebrate the positive contributions made by young people in the community.
Youth Week WA is an annual celebration of young people, by young people, providing people aged 1025 years with opportunities to express ideas, raise important issues, make decisions and showcase their talents and contributions.
Some of the organisations to receive funding include:
- the City of Albany, for the Winter Wonderland Social. The Albany Town Hall will be transformed into a magical space to host talented young people and spectacular decorations. Southern Edge will host art workshops prior to the event for young people to create winter-themed art installations;
- the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, for the Loud and Proud: Youth Week Festival. The event will celebrate young people and create connections between youth and local service providers in a safe, inclusive and engaging way;
- Yiyili Community Indigenous Corporation, for a youth basketball competition; and
- the City of Kalamunda’s Connected Communities: Foothills Fiesta.
Youth Week WA is planned through the Young People’s Planning Committee – which includes four Youth Week ambassadors, who have chosen this year’s theme ‘Head, Body, Heart’.
A wide variety of youth-led events are held throughout the State during Youth Week WA – including the annual KickstART Festival, presented by Propel Youth Arts WA.
Youth Week WA events and projects are funded through the Department of Communities, Propel Youth Arts, Lotterywest, and the WA Government’s Youth Week grants program.
