Dept of Industry, Science and Resources

A new green energy manufacturing centre in Queensland’s Gladstone region has been officially opened today underlining the government’s delivery of a Future Made in Australia.

Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic attended the launch of the new Fortescue hydrogen electrolyser advanced facility alongside QLD Premier Steven Miles.

The facility will produce green hydrogen at an industrial scale using a fully automated production line and several cleanroom robotic assembly cells and lines.

This project is strengthening the nation’s manufacturing capability and creating new well-paid jobs.

It’s also part of the government’s investment in the renewable technology industry.

The Government supported the project by investing $44.9 million in Fortescue Future Industries to construct its electrolyser manufacturing facility.

Project partners include research institutions CSIRO and Central Queensland University.
