Greens Commit Positive Vision For Tasmania

Australian Greens

Tasmania desperately needs a change after nine years of missed opportunities and inaction. Our state is now at a tipping point, making this election not only a generational opportunity for change but also one of the most important state elections of our time.

The Greens have run a strong, energetic campaign with a positive vision for Tasmania, and no matter what the outcome of tomorrow’s election is, we look forward to working hard in parliament to bring down the cost of living and housing, tackle the health crisis, protect our island home’s unique environment, and much more.

As stated by Greens Leader & candidate for Franklin, Rosalie Woodruff MP:

“It’s been a momentous campaign and I’m so proud to have led this Green team. We’ve put things on the agenda – like free public transport, renters rights and stronger environment laws.

“The Greens have been the only party presenting real plans to tackle ambulance ramping, to remove the fish farms from Macquarie Harbour – and for future focussed jobs, and nature tourism.

“More than ever, we know this generation of Tasmanians needs a parliament of leaders working to tackle the climate crisis.

“We’ve heard Tasmanians – we know there is a desperate need for change. The Greens are ready to be that change.”

As stated by Greens candidate for Clark, Vica Bayley MP:

“I’m really proud to have been part of this campaign, with such an incredible team. The Greens have been positive, and propositional.

“We haven’t stooped to toxic attack ads, like Labor and Liberal politicians.

“It’s now up to the Tasmanian people. Whatever happens after this weekend, the Greens will continue with positivity and vision within the Parliament.

“The Greens will work for positive change for Tasmanians, their special place and for those without a voice.”

As stated by Greens candidate for Bass, Cecily Rosol:

“Greens volunteers have been the lifeblood of our campaign here in Bass, it’s been incredible to see so many people get out there, spread the Greens message and advocate for the changes Tasmanians deserve.

“I’m excited by the possibility of doing things differently in this state, and creating a future where people’s needs are put first, our environment is cared for, and where big corporations pay their fair share.”

As stated by Greens candidate for Lyons, Tabatha Badger:

“It has been a privilege to speak with and advocate for the people of Lyons, and share the positive vision the Greens have for Tassie’s future.

“Right now more than ever politics needs a shake up. With so many vested interests, neither of the old parties are able to represent the true values of our communities.

“The Greens are the party putting forward practical solutions to the cost of living crisis and the environmental crisis. It’s time to put people before profit, and fight for a future for all of us by voting Green!”

As stated by Greens candidate for Braddon, Darren Briggs:

“It’s been another whirlwind campaign in Braddon. From the conversations I’ve had on the doors or at street chats or through online engagement there’s certainly a sense of a need for change, with a strong appetite for new ideas and faces in Tasmania’s parliament.

“The issues of healthcare, housing and cost of living are certainly on people’s minds. While there is the desire for a Tasmanian AFL team I can count on less than two hands the number of voters who support a tax-payer funded stadium in Hobart.

“I feel proud that the policies that we are taking to this election which not only tackle the current needs but go a long way to addressing the root cause of inequality in our communities.”
