Griffith City library set to make Christmas merry and bright

Griffith City Library is gearing up to make this Christmas merry and bright, with a host of festive activities planned.

Santa’s special mailbox will be installed on Monday 22 November 2021. Children can write letters to Santa and receive their very own personalised reply in the mail. Letters will be accepted until Wednesday 15 December 2021 and don’t forget to include a full name and address.

Meanwhile, Library elves have been busy decking the halls in readiness for the season. Visitors are welcome to make use of the stunning Christmas backdrop to take their own photos in front of during opening hours. Alternatively, Camera House Griffith will be in attendance on Saturday 4 and 11 December from 9.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 3.30pm. Photos will be taken in front of the display in the library. Photo bookings must be made via Eventbrite for these events – wrl.eventbrite.com.au. Tickets will be available to book from 21 November 2021.

Christmas Wreath Making Workshop

On 16 December 2021 at 5.30pm-6.30pm you can get festive and join the Library for a Christmas Wreath workshop. Fields of Fiorella will be on hand to teach you how to create your own Christmas wreath using an arrangement of dried flowers and natives in Christmas themed red and green colours. Each person will receive a 45cm wreath and materials to make the half-moon wreath design. Tickets are limited and must be booked via wrl.eventbrite.com.au. Tickets are $100 and are non-refundable.

Christmas Movie Week

Take a break from the Christmas rush and pop into the library to watch a Christmas movie. Movies will be screened every day at 11am from Monday 20 December through to Friday 24 December. See the Library for movie titles. Bookings must be made via wrl.eventbrite.com.au

Christmas Craft Workshop for Children

Children aged 6-12 years can take part in a fun Christmas themed craft workshop on Tuesday 21 December at 11am and 2pm. Children may require some adult assistance and must not be left unattended at the Library. Tickets are limited and must be booked via wrl.eventbrite.com.au

Storytime with Santa

A special visitor will be joining in the fun of Storytime on Wednesday 22 December at 10am. Children will get to meet Santa after reading some Christmas stories. Everyone is welcome.

Rhyme Time with Santa

Santa will also make an appearance at Rhyme Time on Tuesday 21 December at 10am. Children will get to meet Santa after singing and dancing to some Christmas songs. Everyone is welcome.

Griffith City Library Manager, Karen Tagliapietra, wishes all members a safe and happy festive season.
