Hamas’ violent attacks against Israel condemned

Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

The Tasmanian Government utterly condemns Hamas’ attacks on civilians in Israel.

“The horrific acts of violence committed against innocent civilians are deeply disturbing,” Premier Jeremy Rockliff said.

“We recognise Israel’s right to defend itself against these abhorrent attacks.

“The developing situation has shocked the world, and we feel for everyone affected, especially those in Tasmania with family or friends in Israel and the surrounding regions.

“On behalf of all Tasmanians, I express my deepest condolences to the loved ones of all civilians who have been killed, injured or displaced by the ongoing violence.”

The Australian Government has advised it is currently unaware of any Australians directly affected.

Premier Rockliff said while we are not aware of any Australians directly affected, these events will still be a difficult time for many Tasmanians.

“I extend my thoughts and support to these members of our community,” the Premier said.

Any Tasmanians in the region should monitor and comply with the latest advice from the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
