Bags of treats a bargain buy at RSPCA’s first dog adoption event at West Lakes
Coinciding with the last weekend of the Royal Adelaide Show, RSPCA South Australia has come up with its own showbag, created solely with the goal of making dogs happy.
The showbags – containing a mix of treats, toys, useful items like a collapsible water bowl, and vouchers for discounted Royal Canin dog food, medications and accessories* – are available to purchase this weekend at RSPCA’s West Lakes Adoption hub where, for the first time, dogs are available to adopt.
According to RSPCA SA Head of Animal Operations, Billy Tubman, the showbags’ focus is on the kind of enrichment items and essentials that the organisation recommends to people who adopt dogs.
“We want to help our adopters get off to a positive start with their new canine family members,” Billy said.
“That’s why the items in our showbags support rewards-based training and play, both of which are essential for dogs to enjoy a happy life.”
The showbags are valued at over $75 and cost just $55. Several of the items are included in an adoption folder for all adopters, even if no showbag is purchased, and adopters are also eligible for 20% off Royal Canin food.
The dog adoption pop-up event begins at 9am today and will end at 2pm tomorrow. (Full details of location and open times below.) No bookings are required to visit the Hub and meet the dogs (open time details below). All of them are fully vaccinated, microchipped, up-to-date with parasite prevention and available to adopt with all the information needed to understand their personalities, needs and ideal homes. Adoption fees vary according to each dog, starting from just $150.
